As Young Explainers we will create and manage events that will run alongside the exhibition “In Pursuit of Art: Charles Eastlake’s Journey from Plymouth to the National Gallery”. These will include activities for children and families as well as Art Bite talks on themes surrounding the exhibition to name a couple.

Walking Tours

Led by members of the Young Explainers around a tour around Eastlake’s Plymouth. These have been separately designed, one for families and another for University of Plymouth first year students.

Eastlake’s Plymouth: A Family Adventure Through Time – Saturday November 3rd at 11:00am

Walk back 200 years in time with us! Through the help of a young Plymouthian painter, Charles Eastlake we will explore historical sites in the city meeting various characters along the way including a captured, yet still insufferably pompous Napoleon Bonaparte! From activities in the museum to free entry to the lighthouse with musical entertainment courtesy of the scurvy sea dogs ‘Tobacco Road’ there is lots of fun to be had for everyone.

Saturday November 3rd at 11:00am, meet at the museum to finish 2:15pm at the Hoe. Bring suitable clothing and footwear to walk from the Museum to The Hoe and perhaps a picnic lunch (there is a shelter to eat in). Suitable for ages 7- 11, children must be accompanied by an adult. Places are limited, booking essential for this free event.’
